"HR is super important, and it’s not our expertise! That's why we chose Huma!"

What does Wener do?

Wener is a contractor company with a focus on building interiors. Most of our customers are from business or the public sector. If you want your office premises to be drop-dead gorgeous, then just call Wener. We can take on the entire project, coordinating all the other professions needed to ensure a great result. We solve everything.

Tell us a little about your culture! What is working in Wener like?

In Wener, we have a flat structure and a generous, open ethos. We are genuinely fond of each other and like to help each other out, making sure of doing a good job for our customers through open, honest communication. Communication is particularly important to us because we have employees from many different countries. We want everyone to feel welcome and that Wener is a good, safe place to be. We are guided by the core value that "right is right" and that there should never be a risk in admitting a mistake.

What’s the process for a new employee starting at Wener?

They are involved in projects straight away on their very first day on the job. Based on their experience level, new employees get a partner from whom they can learn and receive good support. The same goes for apprentices too actually. Although we are a certified apprenticeship company, we don’t take many on. That’s because we want to ensure that those we do take on are seen and given good opportunities to develop their skills. The most important thing for an apprentice, especially to start with, is to feel looked after and safe.

Why did you want an HR system?

We wanted a system that could give our employees digital access to all relevant work-related documents with secure storage in one place. We also liked that our employment agreements could be based on a template given legal quality-assurance by lawyers. After all, there are always small changes occurring in employment law, and making mistakes you are not aware of is easily done.. Then it’s good to start with a template that is continuously quality-assured and up-to-date. As I said, we also have many employees from different countries, so the fact that Huma supports several languages is a real plus.

"We’ve got what we expected, but we must admit that the means of securing digital signatures from all relevant parties in an employment agreement was incredibly flexible and made the process much easier. Not having to send documents back and forth saved us masses of time. That was a positive surprise!"

Were there any particular causes of irritation that made you want to introduce a system?

No particular causes, but HR-related things are important and it's not our business. Having templates and checklists that have been developed and tested is a much better way to start. It’s good to know that the staff handbook, for example, covers most things, but that our own policies - based on what we work with - can also be added.

What made you decide to choose Huma?

ViWe have previous experience with what may be considered larger companies, but we liked the ‘start-up feel’ of Huma. There was a new way of thinking and a focus on how the digital platform could contribute to good communication with all our employees, most of whom are out in the field. In addition to that, we had the opportunity of contributing what we wanted, so that we became part of the development team in a sense. And we’re really appreciative of systems that can be developed together.

In the end, though, we really got a good feel for the people we met when they showed us the system. They seemed genuinely interested and knowledgeable. It gave us the feeling they really understood the issues we might encounter and had the solutions ready. After that, we’ve been able to put forward lots of suggestions for improvement that have not only been received with thanks but implemented too. That really creates trust and strong ties!

Now that you have used Huma for a little while, what has surprised you?

Nothing, and that's good. We’ve got what we expected; we always thought it would make our workday lives easier, and it has. Having said that, we must admit that the means of securing digital signatures from all relevant parties in an employment agreement was incredibly flexible and made the process much easier. Not having to send documents back and forth saved us masses of time. That was a positive surprise!
