What are notifications?
Huma sends notifications to keep you informed about activity relevant to you, such as new tasks, absence changes, survey invitations and more. You can control which notifications you receive and through which channel.
💡 All notifications are turned on by default. You can turn off any notification you do not need.

Notification channels
| Channel | Description |
|---|---|
| Sent to your registered email address | |
| Push | Sent as push notifications to the Huma mobile app |
| Slack | Sent as Slack messages — available if your organisation has the Slack integration enabled |
💡 Not all channels are available for every notification type. You will only see the channels that are relevant for each notification.
💡 On iOS, push notifications are sent silently, and they appear in the notification centre but do not trigger a sound or banner by default. You can adjust this in your iPhone's notification settings for Huma.
Admin notifications vs User notifications
Notifications in Huma are divided into two groups:
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Admin notifications | Sent to administrators or module managers about events in their area of responsibility — for example new absence requests, deviation cases or onboarding completions |
| User notifications | Sent to individual employees about their own activity — for example tasks assigned to them, documents shared with them or their own absence changes |
💡 You will only see notifications that are relevant to your roles and access in Huma. If you are not an absence administrator, you will not see absence admin notifications.
Configure notification settings on web
- Click your profile picture in the top right corner
- Click "Notification settings"
- Toggle notifications on or off per channel
💡 If a notification option is locked, it means it is not available for your current roles or subscription.
⚠️ Administrators cannot change notification settings on behalf of employees. Each employee must update their own preferences.

FAQ
I am receiving notifications I do not need — what should I do?
Go to your notification settings and turn off the notifications you do not want. If you are receiving admin notifications you do not need, it may be because you have a role that gives you access to a module or group you no longer manage — contact your administrator to review your roles.
Can an administrator turn off notifications for me?
No. Notification settings are personal and can only be changed by the employee themselves.
Why are some notification options locked?
A locked notification means it is either not available for your current roles, or it requires a specific module or subscription to be active.
Do I need the Huma mobile app to receive push notifications?
Yes. Push notifications are only delivered through the Huma mobile app. Make sure you have enabled notifications for the Huma app in your phone's settings.
