Supervisor role in Huma

Each person can have one supervisor and each supervisor can have many subordinates.

Supervisor role

A Supervisor role is a middle-management position with access to their subordinates' employee information. This role includes access to subordinates' profile cards, onboarding processes, absence records and etc. 

The role is responsible for their subordinates and will have extended access to their profiles.

Assigning a Supervisor

To assign a "Supervisor" to a subordinate

  1. Go to the "People module" 
  2. Click on a user 
  3. Navigate to "About" and scroll down to "Intro: Supervisor"
  4. Click "Add person" and pick supervisor 

  • Huma doesn´t allow circular chains of supervisors. People supervised by x, directly or indirectly, are therefor not available from the "Pick supervisor list."
  • When a user becomes a supervisor, they automatically receive the supervisor user role as well.
  • Those with the permission to manage users, can also set who is supervising whom.

 

 

 

 

What is Subordinates in Huma?

In Huma, subordinates are employees who report directly to a supervisor. Every supervisor can view and manage a list of their subordinates, meaning the people in the organization for whom they have an oversight, HR, or management responsibility.

  • Supervisors can view their subordinates’ information directly from their profile, including organizational data.
  • The Supervisor role determines what data a supervisor can access or edit. You can adjust this in Roles settings to customize “no access”, “only see”, or “see and edit” for various data.
  • Your Supervisor cannot be your Subordinate

 

How to assign Subordinates

  • You can assign multiple "Subordinates" to a single "Supervisor" simultaneously
  •  You can navigate to each "Subordinate's" profile to designate a "Supervisor" individually.

To sign multiple "Subordinates" to a single "Supervisor"

  1. Go to the "People module" and select the
  2. Click on the "Supervisor" 
  3. Navigate to "About" and scroll down to "Intro: Subordinates"
  4. Click "Add people"
  5. Choose "Subordinates" from the list and click "Add"

 

 




Organizational chart

Find who’s in charge of who.

  1. Go to the "People module" 
  2. Navigate to "Organizational chart"
  3. Click on the different employees to see their position in the chart
    1. You can also change "Supervisor" and/or "Subordinates" in the organizational chart, by clicking the three dots on each employee in the chart.

User role "Supervisor"

Within the Roles settings, you can configure the specific permissions granted to Supervisors in your organization. In this role you can control what supervisors can see and do on the profiles of their subordinates. 

  1. Go to "System settings"
  2. Navigate to "Roles"
  3. Select  "User roles" and scroll down to "Supervisor"
  4. Click on the role and get a overview of what supervisors are allowed to see and do on their subordinates’ profiles
  5. You can change the permissions between "no access", "only see" or "see and edit"

 

  • When a user is designated as a "Supervisor" on an employee’s profile, they are automatically assigned the "Supervisor" user role.
  • You can set Supervisor as part of an Onboarding and have Onboarding tasks dynamically assigned to the new hire’s Supervisor.
  • A filter is available in the People list to simplify the process of locating Supervisors.
  • To assign people to the Supervisor role you need a System admin role.
