How to review salary adjustments

A guide for reviewers assigned to a salary revision group

Table of Contents

What is a reviewer?

As a reviewer, you have been assigned to a revision group as part of a salary revision process. Your role is to review the current salaries of the employees in your group, propose adjustments, and submit them for approval.

You do not need a system role or Salary admin access to be a reviewer. You are assigned directly to the group by a salary admin.

💡 You only have access to your revision group while it has "Pending" status. Once you submit the group for approval, you will no longer have access to it.

Access your revision group

When a revision is started, you will receive a notification letting you know that your group is ready for review.

  1. Go to the Salary module
  2. Click "Revisions"
  3. Click on your assigned revision group under "Pending revisions"

Here you will see:

  • The employees in your group and their current salaries
  • The total budget available for salary adjustments
  • A due date if one has been set by the salary admin

Propose salary adjustments

You can adjust salaries individually or apply the same adjustment to all employees in the group at once.

Adjust individual salaries:

  1. Find the employee in the group
  2. Enter the new salary amount directly in the salary field
  3. Repeat for each employee you want to adjust

Adjust all salaries at once:

  1. Click "Adjust all" in the group
  2. Choose between percentage or fixed amount
  3. Enter the adjustment value
  4. Click "Apply"

⚠️ Using "Adjust all" will overwrite any individual adjustments already made. You can still make individual adjustments afterwards.

💡 Keep an eye on the budget indicator, it shows how much of the budget has been allocated and whether you are over or under budget.

Warnings to be aware of:

The salary and position data shown in your revision group reflects what was active on the revision's effective date, not necessarily today. This means an employee's upcoming salary or new position may already be reflected in the data you see.

Warning What it means
Employee has no current salary No salary is registered for this employee in Huma
Upcoming salary before effective date The employee has a salary change scheduled before the revision's effective date, this is shown as the current salary
Current salary has an end date after effective date The new salary from the revision will overwrite the existing one and remove its end date
Salary in different currency The employee's salary is in a different currency than the revision, but will still be updated in their own currency

Submit for approval

When you are satisfied with the proposed adjustments, submit the group for approval.

  1. Click "Submit for approval"
  2. Optionally add a note to the approver
  3. Confirm the submission

⚠️ Once submitted, you will immediately lose access to the revision group. The approvers will be notified and will review your proposed changes.

Withdraw a submission

If you need to make changes after submitting, you can withdraw the submission — as long as the approver has not yet approved the group.

  1. Go to the Salary module and click "Revisions"
  2. Open your submitted revision group
  3. Click "Withdraw submission"

⚠️ The group returns to Pending status and you regain access to make changes. Remember to resubmit when you are done.

FAQ

Can I access the budget for my revision group?

Yes. As a reviewer you can see the budget allocated for your group. The budget indicator shows how much has been used and how much is left. Use this to make informed salary recommendations within the available budget.

Can I propose a salary decrease?

Yes. You can decrease salaries by either percentage or fixed amount when proposing adjustments in your group.

What happens if another reviewer and I edit the same group at the same time?

The last saved change will be used. Only the edited salary changes are saved, so if you and another reviewer update different employees there is no conflict. If you both update the same employee, the last save wins. We recommend coordinating with other reviewers before submitting.
