The handbook assistant

Ask the handbook a question in your own words and get an instant answer based on your organisation's handbook, right in the Huma app.

What is the handbook assistant?

The handbook assistant lets employees ask the handbook a question, the same way they would ask a colleague. Instead of searching through categories and topics, they get a short answer right away, with links to the topics the answer is based on.

The handbook assistant is available in the Huma app on both iOS and Android.

Roles and access

💡 The assistant follows the same access as the handbook. Employees never get answers based on topics they do not have access to.

 

 

 

Ask the handbook

  1. Open Handbook in the app
  2. Tap "Ask the handbook" at the top
  3. Type your question, or tap one of the example questions
  4. Send the question

 

💡The assistant shows "Thinking" while it finds the answer.

 

 

 

Examples of questions

  • How do I claim expenses?
  • When is vacation pay paid out?
  • Can I work from home?

 

💡 You can also type a single word, for example "overtime". The assistant then summarises the most relevant topics.

 

 

 

 

Understand the answer

The answer is based only on the content in your organisation's handbook. Under the answer, you see the topics the answer is based on.

  • Tap a topic to open it and read the full content
  • Tap "Edit" to change your question and ask again

 

💡 The assistant answers one question at a time and does not remember earlier questions. Ask a complete question each time.

💡 If the handbook has topics in several languages, the assistant uses the topic in your language when it can.

 

 

 

Give feedback on the answer

Under each answer, you can tap "Helpful answer" or "Not a helpful answer". Your feedback helps us improve the handbook assistant.

💡 If no topics in the handbook cover your question, the answer does not show any source topics. Contact your HR department or the handbook's contact person.

 

 

 

Tips for handbook administrators

The answers are only as good as the content in the handbook. To get good answers:

  • Use clear titles that describe what the topic is about
  • Write one topic per subject, instead of long topics about many subjects
  • Keep the content up to date, and archive or delete outdated topics
  • Set the language on topics if you have content in several languages
  • Share topics with the right groups, so employees get answers that apply to them

 

⚠️ As a handbook administrator, you can also get answers based on draft topics. Employees only get answers based on published topics.

Privacy and AI

The handbook assistant uses AI from OpenAI to write the answers.

  • The answer is based only on handbook topics you have access to
  • AI may produce inaccurate information. Always check important information in the source topic.
  • Do not enter sensitive information in your questions

FAQ

Is the handbook assistant available on web?
No. The handbook assistant is currently only available in the Huma app.

 

Can employees get answers from topics they don't have access to?
No. The assistant only uses topics that are shared with the person asking.

 

Why did I get a wrong or incomplete answer?
AI may produce inaccurate information, and the answer depends on what is in the handbook. Open the source topics to check the information. If the content is missing or unclear, contact your handbook administrator.

 

Can I ask follow-up questions?
The assistant does not remember earlier questions. Tap "Edit" and ask a new, complete question.

 

Can the assistant see my personal information?
No. The assistant only uses content from the handbook.

 

Can I still search the handbook in the app?
Yes. Use "Ask the handbook" with a question or a single keyword, and open the topics in the answer.
